solar fountain

I bet after a few years this will develop a wonderful patina that will make it even more attractive in your garden. If you are in the market for a fountain, this is one to consider. There are other solar fountains out there but the design of this model is more striking. This fountain not only uses solar power but also recycles the same water. The sound of the falling water will make a wonderful compliment to any wind chimes in the vicinity.

Hydrogen Fueled Car

Will Hydrogen Fuel Cell Automobiles ever replace gasoline powered cars? Will it prevent Global Warming or use as much fossil fuels to create the hydrogen fuel cell and not really solve the problem? Well, you can ponder these timely question while you toying with the real item in your back yard today.

This approximately 6 inch by 3 inch car is powered by only hydrogen and only emits water from the exhaust system. An external fueling station uses electrolysis to extract hydrogen gas from distilled water and sends the gas to a small balloon inside the car that acts as the hydrogen storage tank. The hydrogen is slowly released from the balloon into the on-board fuel cell where it reacts with oxygen to generate electricity to propel the car’s motor. The car can run in a straight line for 3 minutes.

If your kids and/or inner kid deserve nothing but the coolest and greenest toys – with money being no object, then this offering from Hammacher may be just what you are looking for. A great way to discuss alternative energy with your child.

Cooking with Solar – Sun Oven’s Global Solar Oven

Friday, January 19th, 2007

Cooking Bread with Solar Oven Save gas or electricity with a Global Sun oven, which cooks anything you can think of including baking bread (shown in the picture) Solar cooking is rapidly becoming more and more popular around the world, there are wonderful dedicated sites and even a wiki devoted to Solar cooking. The Solar Cooking Archive is a terrific resource to learn all about the benefits of solar cooking, where to get a wide variety, how to make your own solar cooker, videos, photos, forums and many other informative items.  The Solar Cooking Wiki is another comprehensive source with similar content.

The Global Sun Oven is a great solution if you aren’t the type to make your own oven from scratch but if you are industrious here is a link that shows you how to make your own and save 180 or so dollars that the Global sun oven costs.

The Global Sun Oven is one of the most popular brands and cooks up to 400 degrees and will cook anything that will cook in an conventional oven (well a 20 lb Turkey might be a tight fit but other than that…) Many people in the know claim the food tastes better, cooks more evenly and no hot spots so stirring isn’t needed. You do have to “focus” the oven so it will be directly in the path of the sun, requiring you to slightly turn the oven every half hour or so and the oven is made to handle this easily.  You can even use the oven on a cold winter day as long as its a bright clear day.  The good feeling you get from conserving energy and cooking with free solar energy will almost taste as good as the scrumptious treats you can cook up with your new Global Sun Oven.

Global Sun Oven $184.97 on sale at  the Alternative Energy Store
